Canada-based real estate-focussed private equity firm Slate Asset Management has acquired a portfolio of German grocery real estate assets in Germany for EUR 100m (USD 113m), to continue growth in Europe, the company said.

Slate acquired the portfolio in an off-market transaction from KRE//GROUP at an attractive discount to replacement cost.

The portfolio comprises 30 properties distributed in and around larger metropolitan areas in Germany with high potential for future turnover growth, including Berlin, Hannover, Cologne and Hamburg.

The acquisition further scales Slate's platform in Europe and increases the firm's exposure to high-quality essential real estate assets in the region.

This portfolio is Slate's third acquisition in Germany in the second half of 2021. The firm acquired two additional portfolios with nine collective grocery and essential real estate assets in the third quarter of this year.
