West Virginia American Water to Acquire Water Distribution System of Kincaid

West Virginia, US-based American Water and Page has entered into an agreement to purchase Kincaid Public Service District's water distribution system, currently serving 650 customers in Fayette County, West Virginia, the company said.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

West Virginia American Water will reinforce an interconnection between the company's water lines in Fayette County and the community's water system.

The community will be served from the company's New River water treatment plant located in Beckwith.

Under the agreement, West Virginia American Water will make needed investments in the community's water distribution system to reduce leakage and improve water quality.

Upon closing, West Virginia American Water will own and operate the water lines as part of its New River water system. The proposed agreement requires the approval of the Public Service Commission.

West Virginia American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is an investor-owned water utility, providing water services to approximately 565,000 people.
