WEC Energy Group to Acquire 85% Ownership in South Dakota Tatanka Ridge Wind Farm

Wisconsin, US-based WEC Energy Group (NYSE: WEC) has agreed to acquire an 85% ownership interest in Tatanka Ridge Wind Farm, a 56 wind turbine wind farm with a capacity of 155mw, currently under construction in Deuel County, South Dakota, the company said.

WEC Energy Group's investment is expected to total USD 235m for the 85% ownership interest and substantially all of the tax benefits.

The project is being developed by Avangrid Renewables, LLC, with commercial operation expected to begin by early 2021.

The project has long-term offtake agreements for 100% of the energy produced with a multinational investment grade company and a well-established electric cooperative that serves utilities in multiple states.

WEC Energy Group serves 4.5m customers in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.
The company's principal utilities are We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service, Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas, Michigan Gas Utilities, Minnesota Energy Resources and Upper Michigan Energy Resources.
