Microtek Laboratories Acquires Micronal PCM Business of Germany´s BASF

19 May 2017 - Ohio, US-based encapsulation solutions provider Microtek Laboratories, Inc. has agreed to acquire the Micronal phase change materials (PCM) business of Germany based BASF as well as an exclusive license for the manufacture of Micronal microencapsulated PCM, the company said.
Both companies have agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.
Microencapsulated phase change materials (PCM) are used for thermal regulation in building and construction, mattresses and pillows, textiles, electronics, and packaging applications.
Micronal said the acquisition will strengthen and enhance Microtek's product offerings to customers, expanding the selection of microencapsulated PCM products.
BASF's current customer base for these micronal products will be handled by Microtek's sales force and the manufacturing of the products will be transitioned over to Microtek's production facility in the US by the end of 2017.
Microtek has taken ownership of all BASF inventory of these products and will begin working with customers on May 23rd.
The company participates in several markets including smart coatings via self-healing technology, agricultural, foods and flavors, gas and oil, fragrance and encapsulated phase change material.
