Medidata Acquires Data Analytics Firm SHYFT Analytics for USD 195m

13 June 2018 - New York, US-based software developer Medidata (NASDAQ: MDSO) has agreed to acquire Boston, US-based data analytics company SHYFT Analytics to unite Medidata's clinical development platform with SHYFT's platform for commercial and real-world data analytics, the company said.

Medidata will acquire SHYFT for a total consideration of USD 195m, inclusive of Medidata's 6.0% ownership in SHYFT's business, and funded with existing cash on Medidata's balance sheet. The acquisition is expected to close in 2Q18.

The combined platform delivers market-leading applications, services, and proven data science capabilities, powered by the largest global pool of research data, companies' own CRM data, 3rd party commercial data, and real-world data sources.

Medidata said combining the companies' innovative solutions, talented teams and shared values will help life science companies streamline the way they develop products and bring them to market.
