Elpis Technologies Acquires IBM Patent Portfolio Related to Semi-Conductor Manufacturing

25 February 2020 - South Carolina, US-based web security technology developer Elpis Technologies, Inc. has acquired a portfolio of semi-conductor-related patents from International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM), the company said.
Elpis is a subsidiary of Canadian technology development company Wi-LAN.
Terms of the agreement are confidential.
Wi-LAN, a Quarterhill company, is a patent monetisation company that partners with its customers to unlock the value of intellectual property through various patent monetisation models.
Wi-LAN operates in a variety of markets including automotive, digital television, Internet, medical, semiconductor and wireless communication technologies.
Quarterhill (TSX: QTRH) (OTCQX: QTRHF) is focussed on the disciplined acquisition, management and growth of companies in dedicated technology areas including, vertical market software and solutions, intelligent industrial systems and innovation and licensing.
