Kosmos Energy to Acquire Liquified Natural Gas from Greater Tortue Ahmeyin Project in Senegal/Mauritania

14 February 2020 - Texas, US-based Kosmos Energy (NYSE: KOS) (LSE: KOS) has signed a sale and purchase agreement with BP Gas Marketing Ltd. for 2.45m tons per annum of liquified natural gas from Phase 1 of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project in Senegal and Mauritania for an initial term of up to 20 years, the company said.
BP Gas Marketing Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of oils and gas major BP plc (NYSE: BP).
Following the signing of the SPA, Kosmos intends to book net proved reserves of approximately 100 m barrels of oil equivalent associated with Phase 1, as evaluated by the company's independent reserve auditor Ryder Scott company, LP.
Partners in the cross-border Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project, located offshore Mauritania and Senegal, include SMHPM, Petrosen, BP, and Kosmos.
Kosmos is a full-cycle deepwater independent oil and gas exploration and production company focussed along the Atlantic Margins.
Key assets include production offshore Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and US Gulf of Mexico, as well as a world-class gas development offshore Mauritania and Senegal.
