Seadrill says owns 84% in Scorpion

Oslo-listed offshore drilling contractor Seadrill (OSL:SDRL) said on Thursday its NOK40.50 (USD6.5/EUR5.09) per share offer for Scorpion (OSL:SCORE) was accepted by shareholders owning 30.475m shares, bringing its total interest in the company to some 84%.

Scorpion is involved in building, owning, operating, leasing and chartering jack-up offshore drilling rigs.

The offer will expire on Friday and will be settled on 21 July.

Seadrill said it will call a meeting of Scorpion shareholders soon to propose the company to be taken private.
