Altair Acquires Flow Simulator from GE Aviation to Form Long-Term Partnership

Michigan, US-based technology company Altair, (NASDAQ: ALTR), specialising in simulation, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence, has acquired flow, heat transfer and combustion design software Flow Simulator from Ohio-based aviation systems provider GE Aviation, to establish long-term partnership, the company said.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Flow Simulator enables mixed fidelity simulations to optimise machine and systems design.

As part of the acquisition, Altair and GE Aviation have signed a memo of understanding to facilitate a higher level of collaboration.

The relationship will include Altair's continuous development of Flow Simulator; granting GE Aviation access to Altair's complete software suite to explore enhanced functionality aligned to real-world use cases and workflows; and ongoing executive engagement between both parties to establish deeper strategic alignment and pursue new ventures.

Altair provides software and cloud solutions in the areas of simulation, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence.

GE Aviation, an operating unit of GE (NYSE: GE), is a provider of jet and turboprop engines, components, integrated digital, avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation aircraft.
